Writing: Steven and Sparky get taken in by some fairly strange folks. Steven discovers that not everyone is ready to be saved and most of the time is ungrateful for the help offered. There is some interesting insight into humanity in this issue and Steven is discovering some very grown up philosophy for a ten year old.

I thought that this issue was nicely written and very easy to follow. The storyline is getting fleshed out and there was more character development than fighting in this issue. Both Steven and Sparky are presented in interesting manner. Sparky more in terms of his importance to a society that is ready to take over and Steven more in terms of his past and his thoughts about life. I'm enjoying this title.

Artwork: The greyscale was detailed nicely and it was very easy on the eyes. I thought it added depth to the comic and fit well with the story.

Overall:  4 stars. This has been a good read so far. I'm looking forward to issue three.

Writing:  This issue brought some more depth to Steven, as he learns that people do not necessarily want to be helped, and can be quite rude about unrequested help.  I thought the passages discussing evil items and how they cannot be used for good worked well.  It avoided the preachy tone that passages like that can tend to end up portraying.

Artwork:  I really like the level of detail in the gray scale artwork.  I think it adds to the atmosphere of the book.

Overall: 4 stars.  While this issue was not as exciting as the first issue, it did a good job fleshing out the supporting story lines and bringing them into close proximity.  I'm looking forward to issue #3.

Writing: I really didn't care much for the first issue of this title, but this one is a different story.  This one moved the story along in much more of a believable manner. (believable within the realm that we're dealing with)  We are starting to get a much better picture of where this story might be heading and with whom our heroes will be up against.

Artwork: I really liked the artwork.  We've been getting some greyscale artwork in that has been way to detailed, to the point that you can barely tell what's going on.  This one however seems to have reached a very nice balance between detail and trying to make sure that every square inch is covered in ink.

Overall: 4 stars. If you would have told me that I'd be giving the second issue of this series 4 stars after I read the first issue, I'd have said that you are nuts.  But this one was vastly better in my eyes.
