About Us

Site Info

The idea for this site came to me after going to a local comic convention. I was having an artist draw me a quick sketch when we started talking about the show. He mentioned that he likes participating in these shows because he can sell artwork to the younger fans at a reasonable price so that they can enjoy comic book art also. He felt that this was his way of helping out the industry that he enjoys so much.

On the way home, I was thinking about what the artist had said and tried to come up with something myself. Since I have no discernable talents that could be used in the actual writing or drawing of a comic, I decided on a web site.

I hope you enjoy the site, and go out and purchase some of the fine work that will be reviewed.

About Us

Ron Miller

I'm not your normal comic book fan. I didn't grow up reading Superman, Spider-Man or whoever. I watched all the super-hero cartoons but just didn't get exposed to comics.

Right before the first Spider-Man movie came out, I decided that before I watched the movie, I'd like to have more background on the character. This, along with having children and thus no time for novels, moved me to the comic book and graphic novel world.

Some of my favorites: Y - The Last Man; Fables; Ultimate Spider-Man; Bone; Sandman; Queen & Country; Stranger In Paradise; and a host of others.

Unlike Ron and Bob I did grow up reading comic books,.captivated by the larger-than life characters. I was a collector until age 15-16 or so when other interests caught my attention. At that point I would still indulge in an occasional MAD Magazine.

Later in life I rediscovered my love of comics and began to appreciate them more as an art form. The only difference from when I was young, is that now I don't spend all my money on comics.

Some of my favorites: Batman; Preacher; Punisher; Transmetropolitan; Sandman; Hellblazer; Spiderman; Alias; Howard the Duck and a host of others.

I'm probably the odd man out here, in that I tend more towards books than comics or graphic novels. I'm always up for a good character or story and eye-catching artwork just makes it an easier sell.

Oddly enough, it was my love for the works of Hunter S. Thompson that really drew me into a comic series and it's main character; that series being Transmetropolitan. In a number of ways, I'm starting to realize that comics give root to ideas, stories, and characters that more mainstream media won't touch with a ten foot pole.

That said, I'm still a huge sucker for Spiderman and all the other Marvel comics I grew up reading prior to becoming a literature geek.

Bob Weiman

I got started reading comics when someone in college let me read their Cerebus trade paperbacks. Another friend had the first Sandman trade paperback and a third had Watchmen.  I was hooked.

Some of my favorites: Cerebus, Sandman, Groo, Tick, Wolverine, Bone, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Black Orchid
