Description of book: (From the website) Journey back to a time when magic still thrived, dragons and fallen gods roamed the earth, and man was just a myth. The Garden of Eden was a place of perfect peace and tranquility. That is, until its keeper, Adam, went missing. Now, his newly created wife, Eve, must venture outside the safety of the Garden for the first time to go in search of her husband, all the while battling monsters, beast men, wizards, demons, and even the gods themselves. It's the fun and adventure of Samurai Jack mixed with the epic scope of Lord of the Rings.
Price: $3.25

Writing:  Adam goes missing during a raft journey and Eve sets out to find him. She encounters along the way a very forgiving diety plus her protector. This was a very good take on an old story. Both the characters as well as the story are easy to follow. Probably my biggest gripe with this title is that it ended too soon. I wanted more and am eagerly awaiting following issues.

Artwork: There's nothing like Josh Howard's women. This was a nice peice with some great art to flesh out the title, plus Eve's a babe. I was impressed with Howard's ability to keep a naked chick in a comic somewhat covered and not x-rated.

Overall: 4 stars. This was a good first issue. I thought that the story had an interesting take on the legend with a neat alternate reality aspect to the tale.

Writing: This story has a very interesting setting, starting out in the Garden of Eden after Eve was created and before she ate of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  Adam has been kidnapped, and she is trying to find him.  God is cast in the mostly non-interfering role, allowing mankind to exercise his free will and find his place in creation.  I found myself intrigued by the story and how well it was fleshed out in this issue.

Artwork: What can I say, other than it is Eve drawn by Josh Howard.  While traipsing around the garden, she always had a strategically placed lock of hair, butterfly, or leaf to keep the book PG-13.

Overall: 5 stars. I am very curious to see where Josh takes this storyline.

Writing: I kind of view this as a zero issue comic.  It seemed a few pages shorter than a standard comic and it consisted of mostly set up for the rest of the series.  Josh Howard appears to be headed for another winner with this title.

It is basically about Eve leaving the Garden to find Adam, who was lost when the two of them were out on a raft trip. The first issue already has established a handful of characters who will have a part in this adventure.  I can't wait to see what is going to be happening once this comic hits its stride.

Artwork: If you've seen Josh Howard artwork before, you can guess how this is going to look...excellent!  I really love this style.  With that being said, I feel I do need to comment in a negative way about how "the head of the garden" was depicted.  I just didn't like the look at all.

Overall: 4 stars. Intresting opening.  If you haven't read anything by Howard, this appears to be a very accessible title for you (more so than Dead@17).  Go out and pick it up.
