Year: 2007 Writer: Aaron F. Gonzalez Artist: Aaron F. Gonzalez Publisher: Self-Published Website: http://www.houseofoctober.com Genre: Fiction Description of book: Broken Chain is a wordless short story comic about a guy and a girl trying to get together. His OCD tendencies and her quirkiness make that easier said than done. Price: $7.00
Review: First, I want to take care of business and state for all concerned: I am immensely pleased that now I've gotten the full "Broken Chain" story. The sampler was great, but waiting to "read" the rest of it was one of those splinters working away at the back of my mind. Had I needed to wait any longer, I may have required the aid of prescription drugs to sleep at night.
However, my patience was rewarded as Gonzalez did not have a fluke success with the teaser he published. The book is solid throughout, with his distinctive art and characters lighting the way from start to finish. The dance these two manage with one another is both believable and endearing, leaving you wondering whether or not they'll get it together up to the end.
It's usually not something I try to do as a reviewer to sell a book - I figured the book usually does that by itself. Still, Broken Chain is an amazing book that Aaron Gonzalez is practically giving away for the price. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.
Overall: 5 stars.
