Review: At first glance, the visuals in Broken Chain were immediately disarming. There is a charm and warmth to the artwork that serves to create a comfortable place from which to spectate. Given that the "let's watch them get together...eventually" genre can sometimes be a little bit heavy in the direction of "I'm going to hit myself in the head with my own shoe now," it's incredibly benevolent of Aaron Gonzalez to offer us a comfortable arm-chair while we wait.
All told though, in the sample of the book I was reading, it never delved into gut-wrenching pain or awkwardness so real that I felt embarrassed. Instead, it was quirky without being too far-fetched and real without being unpleasant.
I was also a fan of the replacement of words with symbols and pictures. Kudos to anybody who can visually depict whole conversations (cynicism aside for a moment).
Definitely check this one out. It is currently working to carve a unique niche for itself.
Overall: 4 stars.

Review: This is more of a sample book rather than a complete story. For what it is, I thought it was very enjoyable with lots of potential to be an interesting read. I'm sure the more of the story that you read, the more charater development would come to the front. But since this is just a slice of the storyline, I can really only give this a three star rating. At the end of the story, I wished we had another issue or two to read.
Overall: 3 stars.
