Review: Between the title and the artwork, I wasn't sure what to expect from this comic at all. What I can say for it immediately is that it's not afraid to display some unpleasant intensity, gore, and conflict. There were points where the conflict displayed was truly uncomfortable to read over - but that is the nature of all REAL conflict. The courage of a writer to approach the real deal in comic form is commendable on its own.
Overall: 5 stars. In both its visuals and its writing, this title is absolutely stunning - even if at times a challenging read for the negativity it represents alongside hope. It's a very human read and those are few and far between - highly recommended.

Review: While the portrayal of conflict in this book is very dark, that makes it more believable and real. War is ugly, and this book doesn't pull any punches in its depiction. Even in black and white, the gore is intense at times.
Overall: 5 stars. Birth walks the fine line between making a strong point about the nature of conflict and being preachy without stepping over.

Review: I liked this story but obviously not as much as the other guys. Overall the story telling and artwork were very good. The book held my interest all the way through, but the story telling stayed at the 30,000 ft level and never really gave us any individual characters to get hold of.
Overall: 4 stars. The artwork and story telling give this a four star review, but with the way the book ended, I'm looking more forward to the next issue since it looks like it may fix my complaints about this one.
